Soulfunkera was born in Paris in 2021 from a powerful desire: staying connected to the roots while living far from them. What started as a personal project gradually became a space of expression, where culture, memory and creativity would take shape.

My name is Gabriela, I was born in Los Angeles to Brazilian parents, both artists in their own way. Mother is an actress and danser, passionate by theatre, cinema and music. Father is a visual artist, expresses himself through colours and shapes.
Later, raised by grandmother in Rio de Janeiro, a true carnaval lover, I was brought to the universe of samba and carioca street culture, surrounded by the collective traditions and vibrant energy that would shape my identity.

Moving to Paris in my early twenties has made the distance from home create a sense of disconnection. Sewing first appeared as a personal refuge — a quiet practice that required patience, discipline and presence. Over time it became something more: a way to transform memories and emotions into tangible creations, as well as a fuel and gateway to new opportunities and encounters. Creating has then become a portal of reconnection to everything I knew, everything I was and everything I wanted to be.

Today, Soulfunkera reflects that journey, carrying the essence of Brazilian beach lifestyle, music, movement and color. More than a brand, it is a bridge between places, stories and identities — a way of keeping soul alive through creation.
